Were the French mad to eradicate themselves of their Ancien Regieme or Royal family?

The French aristocracy ruled the roost and those who paid for their wanton and disreputable way of life were the French peasantry who eventually, got fed up, pissed off[due defference to US citizens] then following the American example the French Revolution took place in 1798. So, in 2009 is it not time that the British monarchy got its p 45 and told to take a run and a jump and to leave the poor misfortunate British taxpayers alone? They have had enough bailing out the banks and other parastical sections of society. Right?
