Why is india being floated around as a possible superpower?

Because the western world does not want to see the rising power from Communist China even though it is a hard reality. To counter the growing influence from China, the western world hopes and prays hard that India would rise above China as a so-called "Democratic Nation". It is a nice dream, just a dream because India has more problem than Uncle Sam has.
