Do you think they should legalize pot?

With the economy in the sewer like it is, I think now would be a perfect time to legalize pot. I think they should legalize gambling, prostitution, and pot and then tax the bejesus out of them. They still should be regulated of course. Brothels should still be in red light districts. I say they should legalize all the drugs, filter them down, and tax the hell out of them. I know what some of you might be thinking. You think that sounds crazy! Well if you think long and hard enough actually it doesn't. Most drugs out there won't do anything to you that alcohol won't do. One way we got out of The Great Depression was by repealing Prohibition. If the drugs aren't pure and they're chopped down, they're not as potent. Are we forgetting that Heath Ledger OD'd on prescription drugs? All those date drugs like roofies and Special K? Those are legal drugs. They're horse tranquilizers. Pure tobacco is also a strong hallucinogen. Morning glories, datura, belladonna, gypsum, and mandrake are legal. Those are what are used to make LSD. The drug laws are really nothing more than retroactive Jim Crow laws. They're just another way to keep minorities down. I'd say legalize and regulate them across the board, tax the ens out of them, and take all that extra revenue we're wasting on the drug war and the penal system and we could probably pay off a huge portion of the debt we're in. Did you know at least 80 percent of all the prisoners in prisons are first time non-violent drug offenders? They need to put violent criminals and offenders behind bars. It would actually be cheaper to give the drug offenders treatment than it would be to incarcerate them. Further, the crime rate in this country would be at a record low.
