Question for tax loss carryforward?

will tax payable in tax reporting be infulenced by using the tax loss carry forward? tax loss carry forward cause the deferred tax et. Is it because the loss carry forward might reduce the income tax expense in the preceding year but the tax payable in the tax reporting is not infulenced. Therefore, this might make income tax expense in income statement smaller than tax payable in tax reporting...then deferred tax occurred. I am not sure whether it right now. need your help...Thanks
