ault small claims suit?

I was recently aulted for defending my gay friend 2 weeks back, My friend called the cops and chargers were pressed, my nose was broken. Violence seems stupid to me and i don't want to get rich off this kid i just want my hospital bills to be paid. In the police report it said "without legal justification, knowing and intentionally caused me bodily harm, in that where he punched me in the face numerous times with closed fist's which caused me to suffer a broken nose". I have no witnesses just the police report, my friend is scared to be a witness and i dont want him to get attacked again. I want to sue him but all i have is the police report. Should i go through with the law suit and if i do could i win with just the police report. Thank your fr all your help and god bless
